He also urged European countries to increase defense spending and emphasized the importance of US support in securing lasting peace.
Starmer is set to meet with other G7 leaders in the coming days to discuss the situation.
As tensions rise, an emergency summit on Ukraine is scheduled for Monday, with European leaders discussing their concerns about potential US-Russia negotiations and the future of NATO.
