Taraba state Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has assured youths in the state of his administration’s commitment to their welfare.
He made this statement on Thursday, May 29, 2025, during a Town Hall meeting and media chat held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Jalingo, to mark his second anniversary in office.
“We will establish youth Commission that will ensure that youths are properly taken care of.
“We will train youths in artificial intelligence and digital innovations, as well as expanding vocational programmes across local government areas.
“This is aim to enhance economic activities, promote tourism, support agricultural businesses, improve climate resilience, and advance rural electrification.
During the event, Governor Kefas highlighted numerous achievements of his administration over the past two years.
“This administration has successful implementation of the free and compulsory education policy in public schools, which includes the procurement of instructional materials, the construction of 60 new schools across the state, and the provision of free WAEC and NECO registration.
“Before I came into office, I was sponsoring many children to school, so if I can do it that time, I see no reason why I cannot do it better.

“We’ve given Taraba students uniforms, sandals, textbooks for effective learning
“The best legacy we can give to our children is education.
The governor said he has taken his time to study the process of laying a solid foundation for free, compulsory and quality education for the children of the state.
He stated that his administration was poise to create an enabling environment for safety and quality education for the entire children across the state.
He added that the government has already procured uniforms, school bags, shoes, books, and electronic pads to distribute to the children across all primary and secondary schools in the state for its free education programme.
On Security, he said that he has allocated resources to ensure that the State remains relatively calm.
He also discussed progress in various areas, including agriculture, civil service reforms, health, energy, and environmental initiatives. Notably, he mentioned the development of the Taraba State Development Master Plan and the revamping of the Taraba Geographic Information Service (TAGIS) to improve land administration.
“To enhance transparency, there will be monthly Press briefings by the Ministry of Information, quarterly reports from local government areas, and a comprehensive public reporting network to ensure accountability.
During the gathering, residents of the state and members of the media took turns to ask questions, to which the Governor provided clear and informative answer.
