The minister also stressed the significance of functional local governance in tackling insurgency and promoting regional stability. He noted that credible elections and efficient local administration are crucial in preventing the collapse of governance, which can create vacuums that extremist groups can exploit.
Furthermore, Tuggar highlighted Nigeria’s commitment to regional integration and cooperation, particularly within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). He emphasised the need for standardized grading of positions, expedited completion of skills audits, and competency assessments within the African Union.
In his interactions with various stakeholders, including the House Committee on Cooperation and Integration in Africa, Tuggar underscored Nigeria’s commitment to driving economic growth, security, and unity across the continent. By working together, West African countries can create a more prosperous and stable region, ultimately contributing to a more inclusive and equitable world order.
