Following the degenerating level of insecurity in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, its Minister, Barr Nyesom Wike has called for an emergency security meeting.
Wike, who met with security agencies on Tuesday, assured residents of their safety, stating that the government committed its role of supporting security agencies with all they need to curb insecurity in the FCT.
Among the attendees of the meeting were heads of security agencies in the FCT, top officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), area council chairmen, and traditional rulers.
Wike told the area council chairmen to keep up with their responsibilities at the local level.
In recent weeks, there have been records of abduction of residents by bandits in different parts of the FCT, causing panic among residents.
The incidents took an alarming increase when some residents, including a 13-year-old secondary school student, were murdered as the deadline for payment of a ransom was not met.
