Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has inspected the proposed site for the new Ministry of Livestock Development in Abuja, emphasising President Bola Tinubu’s directive to refurbish the former Ministry of Agriculture building for the newly created ministry.
Wike described the project as “an emergency work” and announced that the FCT Administration will invite companies to assess the building and provide quotes for the project. An integrity test has already been conducted on the building, with satisfactory results.
The minister stressed that the creation of the Ministry of Livestock is a welcome development, and the government aims to complete the project swiftly.
In addition to the ministry’s refurbishment, Wike addressed the ongoing construction of the Kugbo International Market, noting that the market was built under a Public Private Partnership.
He directed the Department of Development Control to demolish buildings obstructing the road corridor leading to the market from Mpape, emphasising the need to prevent encroachment and ensure the market’s affordability for traders.
Wike’s inspection and announcements demonstrate the government’s commitment to supporting the livestock sector and promoting economic growth in the region.
