The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has expressed satisfaction over the commendation he received from President Bola Tinubu during a recent presidential media chat.
Speaking to journalists on Sunday, January 19, Wike described the praise as a morale booster. “Ask yourself this question: your boss says he’s happy with what you’re doing. How do you feel? I am happy; I feel satisfied,” he said.
However, Wike criticized the approach of the Arise Television journalist who participated in the media chat, accusing them of asking an “unintelligent” and “mischievous” question about his alleged land-grabbing activities and political role.
“That was a presidential media chat, and it’s so unfortunate that a first-class graduate would focus on accusing a minister of land grabbing and insinuating that he’s a political liability to the government. To the glory of God, the person was embarrassed after Mr. President responded,” Wike remarked.
The minister emphasized the need for individuals in authority and the media to prioritize national interest over personal agendas. “Everyone has a role to play to ensure that we don’t let personal interests overshadow important issues,” he stated.
Wike’s comments reflect his confidence in his stewardship as FCT Minister and highlight ongoing tensions between public officials and the media.
