The governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Sit Paul Chukwuma, has assured residents of Ihiala Local Government Area that he will make security a top priority if elected in the upcoming Anambra governorship election scheduled for November 8.
Chukwuma, who toured the area during his campaign, noted that many parts of Ihiala have faced continuous insecurity for the past three years. He said the absence of proper government attention has left residents vulnerable to criminal activities that have disrupted social and economic life. He pledged that once sworn in as governor in March 2026, he would take immediate steps to restore peace and safety in the local government and across Anambra State.
As part of ongoing consultations, the party’s deputy governorship candidate, Uzu Okagbue, also met with the traditional ruler of Mbaukwu in Awka South Local Government Area, Igwe Peter Anukwu. Okagbue described the monarch as a respected custodian of culture and tradition, whose reign has lasted for over fifty years and continues to attract reverence from younger traditional leaders. He said the visit was both symbolic and personal, as the royal father has played a guiding role in his life and family for decades.
The YPP campaign team maintained that restoring security in Ihiala and other troubled parts of Anambra would be one of their first actions in government, while also strengthening ties with traditional leaders across the state to support peace and community development.
