Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed gratitude to the United States for imposing fresh sanctions on over 400 Russian entities linked to the energy sector.
In his statement, Zelenskyy praised the US government’s strategic move, revealing how it would severely impact the financial foundations of Russia’s military and disrupt vital supply chains.
The sanctions specifically target key players in Russia’s oil and gas industry, including 184 shadow fleet tankers and major Russian producers.
Zelenskyy disclosed that these measures are a significant blow to Russia’s war capabilities, reducing its income from petrodollars and curbing its aggression in Ukraine.
Additionally, Zelenskyy acknowledged Japan’s decisive action in imposing similar sanctions, which include asset freezes and export bans.
He noted that these steps would severely hinder Russia’s military-industrial complex, particularly limiting access to essential microelectronics needed for missile and drone production.
With continued international support, Zelenskyy remains confident that these sanctions will hasten peace efforts by cutting off Russia’s revenue streams and making it more difficult for the nation to fuel its ongoing war.
