No fewer than 110 Nigerians have been listed for deportation from the United States as part of an ongoing immigration enforcement operation targeting undocumented migrants across West Africa.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) disclosed that a total of 355 West African nationals are slated for removal under its West Africa Operations Watch (WOW) programme. The agency also released the identities and photographs of those affected.
Among the countries on the list, Nigeria has the second-highest number of deportees, with 110 citizens scheduled for repatriation. Liberia tops the list with 94 nationals, while Ghana and Senegal account for 30 and 19 deportees respectively.
Other countries affected include Cameroon (15), The Gambia (14), Côte d’Ivoire (14), Mauritania (12), Cape Verde (11), Burkina Faso (9), Niger (8), Guinea (6), Togo (6), Mali (5), as well as Benin Republic and Guinea-Bissau with one deportee each.
