At least 18 people have lost their lives after a vehicle travelling from Lagos to Kano plunged into a ditch at Wuya Village along the Bida-Mokwa Road in Gbako Local Government Area of Niger State.

‎The fatal accident occurred around 12:35 p.m. on Wednesday.

‎The Niger Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Aishatu Sa’adu, confirmed the incident on Thursday, stating that 41 people were involved in the crash. She said 20 victims sustained injuries, two escaped unhurt, while 18 others died.
‎
‎According to Sa’adu, the accident was caused by driver fatigue.
‎
‎She explained that the injured victims were taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Bida for treatment, while the bodies of those who died were deposited at the hospital’s mortuary.
‎
‎The official added that the vehicle was travelling from Lagos to Kano when the crash occurred.
