Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting sports activities in the state. Speaking at the 2024 Olympic Day Run celebration, Kefas emphasized the importance of such events in unifying the state and nurturing young sporting talents.
“As you are aware, sporting activities bring us together irrespective of religion and other differences, to enable them to achieve a common goal,” Kefas said.





The Governor commended the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, led by Joseph Joshua, for its dedication to enhancing sports activities in line with the administration’s five-point agenda.
Also speaking, the President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Engr. Habu Gumel, noted that the Olympic Day commemorates the establishment of the Olympic Movement and anticipates the upcoming Olympic Games Paris 2024.
“The Olympic Day Run symbolizes more than just a race, representing hope, perseverance, and excellence, as well as the unifying power of sports to promote peace and understanding,” Gumel said.
The State Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Joseph Joshua, emphasized that the Olympic Run Day is a celebration of the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect.
“Let this day inspire you to incorporate more physical activity into your daily lives and to support the development of sports in our communities. Together, we can create a healthier, more active Taraba State, where the values of sportsmanship and community thrive,” Joshua appealed.
In a similar development, the North East representative of the National Deaf Sports Federation, Zayyanu Umar, commended Governor Agbu Kefas for his inclusive governance.
“We appreciate Governor Agbu Kefas. When you mention his name, everyone is happy and loves this present government, including the disabled people unlike the previous administrations, and we are urging him to open his heart to the deaf people and also to everyone for the development of our dear state,” Umar said.
