Olorogun Engr. Matthew Onokpasa, PhD, has called on eligible voters in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in the 2027 general elections.
Onokpasa, a committed supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made the appeal during a media interview at Otogor on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
He urged residents to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and all other APC candidates across the board.
He stressed that PVC collection remains essential to citizens’ participation in the electoral process, urging eligible voters not to take their voting rights for granted.
“Your PVC is your power. It gives you a voice in choosing your leaders and the authority to hold elected officials accountable. The future of our communities and our country depends, in part, on how responsibly we exercise our democratic rights,” he said.
Describing himself as a party man committed to the APC’s success, Onokpasa called on party members, stakeholders and supporters across Ughelli North to strengthen grassroots mobilisation, promote party unity and encourage eligible residents to obtain their PVCs ahead of the elections.
He emphasised his support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid and Governor Oborevwori’s second-term ambition, alongside the candidacies of other APC flag bearers at the federal, state and local levels, as applicable to the forthcoming elections.
The technocrat also urged the electorate to recognise that voting is not merely a civic obligation but an important instrument of democratic accountability. According to him, citizens must use their votes to assess leadership, demand responsible governance and influence decisions affecting their communities.
He called on ward leaders, political coordinators, community stakeholders and party faithful to intensify voter awareness and mobilisation throughout Ughelli North, stressing the need for collective commitment to the party’s objectives.
Onokpasa concluded by urging eligible residents to collect their PVCs, remain politically engaged and participate fully in the electoral process, reiterating that citizens’ voices matter in determining the leadership and future direction of Nigeria.
“Collect your PVC and be ready to vote. Our democratic strength lies in our participation and our willingness to hold those entrusted with public office accountable,” he said.
