Senator William Eteng Jonas of Cross River Central Senatorial District has thrown his weight behind the re election bids of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu, commending a political support group for driving early mobilisation ahead of 2027.
The endorsement came during a rally held today at the Ikom Township Stadium, where the Prince Is Coming Support Group publicly adopted both leaders for a second term and called on residents of the state to rally behind them.
The group, led by the Chief of Staff to the governor, Chief Emmanuel Ironbar, attracted a large turnout, including members of the National Assembly, party leaders, political appointees and supporters from all 18 local government areas of Cross River State.
Addressing journalists after the event, Eteng, who moved the motion for the endorsement, said the President and the governor have justified the confidence reposed in them through their performance in office.
He noted that ongoing economic reforms under Tinubu, particularly in the financial sector, agriculture, education and poverty reduction, are beginning to yield tangible benefits, including increased investor confidence.
The senator also credited Governor Otu with repositioning Cross River through renewed focus on infrastructure and efforts to revive the state’s tourism potential, especially in Calabar.
Eteng assured that he would mobilise support across the Central Senatorial District for the joint ticket, urging key stakeholders to align with what he described as a forward looking political movement.
