The Deputy Director General, South South, of the Tinubu Support Group, TSG, Senator Williams Eteng, has pledged to mobilise the South South region in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for re election in the 2027 presidential election.
Eteng made the pledge while reacting to his appointment, describing the responsibility as a call to greater service.
He thanked the leadership of the TSG for the confidence reposed in him, promising to deploy his leadership experience and grassroots networks to strengthen the group’s presence across the six states of the region.
The senator said he would highlight projects and policies of the Tinubu administration in the South South, including the establishment of the South South Development Commission, the Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway and various road projects across the region.
According to him, “These landmark initiatives are aimed at addressing infrastructure deficits, improving social amenities, boosting commerce and creating opportunities for residents after years of neglect, despite the strategic importance of the South South as a major revenue base of the country.”
He added, “Campaigning for Mr President in the South South will not be an Herculean task, given the array of signature projects undertaken by President Tinubu since assuming office. The projects are verifiable, glaring and speaking.”
Eteng, who represents Cross River Central Senatorial District, said he would engage political leaders, stakeholders, community groups and other relevant actors across the region to deepen coordination and participation in support of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He pledged to approach the assignment with humility, diligence and commitment, adding that his focus would be on building a strong and coordinated mobilisation structure across the South South.
The senator was appointed Deputy Director General, South South, of the TSG in a letter dated September 19 and signed by the Convener and Founder of the organisation, Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke.
Faleke said the appointment was in recognition of Eteng’s leadership experience, professional accomplishments, grassroots engagement and commitment to national development and democratic governance.
He added that Eteng would support the coordination and mobilisation of TSG activities across the South South and work with relevant stakeholders to advance the organisation’s objectives and promote the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Faleke congratulated Eteng on the appointment and expressed confidence in his contribution to the growth and success of the group.
