The Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has commenced intensive grassroots mobilisation for the re election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Prince Bassey Edet Otu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Jarigbe said the mobilisation was aimed at galvanising support across the nooks and crannies of Cross River North to secure an overwhelming victory for Tinubu, Otu and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the senatorial district.
He spoke while addressing supporters comprising former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, executives from the 54 wards across Cross River North who defected with him to the APC in October 2025.
The senator urged the political leaders to leave no stone unturned in mobilising support and securing block votes for Tinubu and Otu in the 2027 elections.
“I want to appeal to the former PDP ward and local government leaders, as well as all stakeholders, to focus on strengthening the APC structure in the senatorial district, sustaining grassroots engagement and charting a common political direction ahead of the 2027 elections to guarantee a landslide victory for the APC, especially in Cross River North,” he said.
Jarigbe expressed appreciation to the former PDP executives for their loyalty and continued support since their defection to the APC, particularly their commitment to his political activities and support for Governor Otu.
He urged the leaders to remain united and dedicated to the APC, while promoting stronger grassroots mobilisation to secure victory for Tinubu, Otu and other candidates of the party in the forthcoming elections.
The senator also dismissed as unfounded and mischievous claims that his regular empowerment programmes across the senatorial district had been cancelled following his defection to the APC.
According to him, several empowerment initiatives had already been captured in the 2026 budget, adding that their implementation would commence once funds were released by the Federal Government to the relevant contractors.
Jarigbe reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare and development of his constituents, saying his interventions were aimed at ensuring that the people of Cross River North benefited meaningfully from government programmes and opportunities.
As part of efforts to sustain the political structure at the grassroots, the senator provided N18.4 million to assist the former PDP executives with logistics and monthly stipends.
He said the gesture was intended to strengthen grassroots engagement and ensure effective coordination across the 54 wards of the senatorial district.
The critical stakeholders who spoke at the meeting renewed their commitment to unity, cooperation and stronger grassroots mobilisation for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
