2027: Nasarawa Lawmaker Urges Electorate to Vote Credible Leaders

Solomon Akwashiki, member representing Lafia Central Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has urged Nigerians to shun religious and ethnic sentiments and vote for credible leaders in the 2027 general elections.

Mr Akwashiki made the call on Thursday in Lafia while receiving members of the Widows Association of Chiroma Ward in Lafia Local Government Area of the state.

He said that politics should not be driven by religious or ethnic considerations, but by the desire to serve humanity and promote development.

“People should be conscious when making decisions during elections and ensure that they vote for leaders who are tested, trustworthy and God-fearing,” he said.

The lawmaker advised the electorate to avoid divisive politics based on religion and ethnicity, stressing that such tendencies could hinder development.

“Religion should rather be used to promote unity, love and harmonious coexistence among people of different beliefs and ethnic backgrounds,” he added.

Mr Akwashiki said that he had continued to provide quality representation to his constituents through various developmental initiatives.

According to him, these include the provision of boreholes, empowerment programmes for women and youths, support for the less privileged, as well as the provision of educational and health facilities.

He also listed rural electrification projects and employment opportunities among interventions he had facilitated for the benefit of his constituents.

The lawmaker said he remained passionate about community development and would continue to support women, children, youths, and other vulnerable groups in the society.

Mr Akwashiki also called on leaders at all levels to lead with the fear of God, noting that they would one day give account of their stewardship.

He solicited prayers and support from the widows and other constituents to enable him to succeed in his legislative responsibilities.

Earlier, Saratu Agena, the leader of the association, said the group visited the lawmaker to appreciate him for his developmental efforts in the constituency.

Ms Agena commended Mr Akwashiki for his interventions and urged him to sustain the good work.

She also assured him of the group’s prayers and support ahead of the 2027 elections.

The association further declared its support for Mr Akwashiki’s ambition to contest the Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in 2027.
