2027: Nigerians Should Let Tinubu Finish What He Started in 2023, Says Obasa ‎

‎The speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, says continuity is needed to consolidate the reforms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

‎

‎Mr Obasa said this in his Independence Day message issued by his media aide, Adeshina Oyetayo, on Thursday.

‎The speaker said the anniversary theme, “From Reforms to Stability: Consolidating Nigeria’s Renewed Hope for Shared Prosperity,” underscored the need for sustained implementation of the reforms.

‎

‎He said the administration had laid the foundation for economic recovery through measures to increase revenue, attract investment and strengthen the foreign exchange position.

‎

‎“President Tinubu has laid a firm foundation for the prosperity of Nigeria with the reforms. Stability is now being entrenched,” he said.

‎

‎He said the next phase should focus on completing major road, rail, and port projects; expanding local refining capacity; strengthening agriculture and human capital development; and ensuring fiscal recovery translates into tangible benefits.

‎

‎“The next task is not to draw us back but to finish the work started in 2023,” he said.

‎

‎Mr Obasa said the 2027 general election would be an opportunity for Nigerians to choose continuity of the reform programme.

‎

‎The speaker congratulated Nigerians at home and in the diaspora on the country’s 66th Independence anniversary and commended their support for the administration.

‎

‎He pledged that the state assembly would continue to cooperate with the federal government, noting that Lagos, as the nation’s commercial centre, understood the importance of policy consistency to development.
