Taiwan has introduced a new online platform designed to receive intelligence from Chinese citizens, inviting individuals who support democratic values to provide information about activities within China.
The initiative comes amid continuing tensions between Taipei and Beijing. China regards self-governed Taiwan as part of its territory and has repeatedly threatened to use force to bring the island under its control. Taiwan, however, has accused Beijing of employing espionage and infiltration tactics to undermine its security and defense systems.
According to Taiwan’s National Security Bureau (NSB), the newly launched website is accompanied by a one-minute artificial intelligence-generated video portraying a Chinese government employee witnessing colleagues being removed for investigation. The bureau said the video reflects what it described as an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty under China’s political system.
The NSB stated that a growing number of people have already approached Taiwanese authorities with offers to provide various forms of information, prompting the creation of a dedicated reporting platform.
The agency explained that the system was developed based on intelligence-reporting practices used by agencies in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Israel.
It added that all submissions will undergo thorough screening and evaluation through technological tools before any follow-up action is taken.
