A prominent philanthropist and 2027 governorship aspirant in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Muhammed Musa Maikaya, popularly known as Ciroman Toto, has been honoured with a Service Excellence Award by the leadership of the Maraba Building Materials Market in Karu Local Government Area.
Maikaya, who is the Founder of the Maikaya Development Foundation (MDF), received the award in recognition of his sustained commitment to community development, with particular emphasis on market infrastructure, traders’ welfare, and grassroots empowerment within the Maraba axis.
According to a report by Summit Post Newspaper, the award was presented during the traders’ end-of-year celebration as a mark of appreciation for Maikaya’s consistent engagement with market stakeholders and his people-centred development initiatives.
Presenting the award, the Chairman of the Maraba Building Materials Market, Dr. Sir Christopher Ibe, described Maikaya as “a man sent to give light to the building materials market,” commending his efforts toward improving traders’ livelihoods and strengthening market operations.
In his acceptance speech, Maikaya expressed gratitude to the market leadership and traders for the honour. He disclosed that in 2025 alone, the Maikaya Development Foundation provided solar-powered lighting to several communities, including the Maraba Building Materials Market. He further revealed that over 600 children have benefited from the foundation’s educational support programmes, while football tournaments were organised across eight of the 13 local government areas of Nasarawa State, among other philanthropic interventions.
Maikaya also noted that, in a bid to enhance economic activities in Maraba, Governor Abdullahi A. Sule recently approved the construction of two flyover bridges—one at Battalion 3 linking Aso Road and another at Abacha Road—to ease traffic congestion and improve the business environment. He stated that the governor has demonstrated strong commitment to completing the projects before the end of his tenure.
The philanthropist reaffirmed his vision to consolidate the developmental strides of the current administration and pledged to work toward transforming the Maraba Building Materials Market into a leading commercial hub capable of rivaling and surpassing Alapa Market.
He concluded by reiterating his dedication to grassroots development and sustainable economic growth across Nasarawa State.
