Super Eagles Beat Tunisia 3-2 at AFCON 2025

Super Eagles beat Tunisia in their second Group C match of the 35th African Cup of Nations at the Complexe Sportif de Fes, Morocco.
Head coach Eric Chelle on Friday said the Super Eagles wanted to win when they faced Tunisia’s Eagles of Carthage in their second game at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco on Saturday.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference on Friday, Chelle admitted that the clash would be difficult for Nigeria but said his team would conduct its analysis after the final training session later in the evening.

“This game is not going to be easy. Tunisia is a great team, and they have a lot of good players, both experienced and young ones,” the 48-year-old said. “After the last training session tonight, we will analyse ahead of tomorrow’s game.”

Praising Tunisia further, Chelle maintained that the Tunisian players play as a team, adding that even though Nigeria would love to win on Saturday, qualifying for the knockout phase is the Super Eagles’ most important objective.

“They play well as a team. We want to win too, but the most important thing is to qualify from the group. After the last training session tonight, we will analyse ahead of tomorrow’s game,” Chelle stated.

Commenting on the ‘cheap goal’ Nigeria conceded against Tanzania, Chelle said, “Like I said, we have analysed this game. Sometimes we do some things good and at times very badly. The reality in the game against Tanzania was the reaction after we conceded a goal; we scored back.

“For sure, we will work on it. We analysed the goal. You know, in football, when there is a goal, it means there was a mistake made by the other team. If there are no mistakes, it means there will be no goal in football. But the most important thing is the state of mind after you concede a goal.”
