By Abasi Ita

As part of activities marking the Yuletide season, the Senator representing Cross River Central Senatorial District, Eteng Jonah Williams, has distributed over N12 million and 200 bags of rice to constituents in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State.

The distribution took place during a town hall meeting held in Broke, where the senator engaged community leaders, party stakeholders and residents. The initiative was aimed at spreading festive cheer and providing relief to vulnerable members of the community.

Speaking at the event, Senator Williams said the outreach in Boki was part of his annual Yuletide tour across the six local government areas that make up the Central Senatorial District. He disclosed that similar interventions would be carried out in Yakurr, Abi, Obubra, Etung and Ikom local government areas.

The senator explained that the visit was an opportunity to celebrate Christmas and the New Year with his constituents while appreciating them for their continued support. He commended the people of Boki for their loyalty to the administration of Governor Bassey Otu and reaffirmed his commitment to sustained engagement through regular town hall meetings to discuss development needs and priorities.

Senator Williams also announced plans to provide free transportation for students and holiday makers returning to Calabar after the festive season. He added that various groups, including youths, students, women, support groups and persons living with disabilities, would each receive N500,000 as part of the support package.

In separate remarks, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Boki Local Government Area, Chief Kelvin Ijong, and the Chairman of Boki Local Government Area, Mrs Beatrice Nyiam, commended Senator Williams for his consistent support for the people, particularly during festive periods. They described him as a committed leader and assured him of the continued support of the people of Boki, while wishing him a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
