Senator Eteng Jonah Williams has distributed N12.5 million and 200 bags of rice to residents of Etung Local Government Area of Cross River State as part of activities marking the 2025 Yuletide season.
The senator, who represents Cross River Central Senatorial District, made the donation during a visit to Effraya, the headquarters of Etung Local Government Area, where he celebrated Christmas with his constituents and expressed appreciation for their continued support.
A breakdown of the distribution showed that youth groups and two women groups received N500,000 each, while the Etung Council of Chiefs was given N1 million.
In addition, a total of N10 million and 200 bags of rice were shared among other stakeholders across the local government area to ensure broad participation in the festive celebration.
The event attracted several dignitaries, including the Chairman of Etung Local Government Area, Hon Henry Njar Anom, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Egbe Ayuk, Hon Cyril Omin, Hon Uket Obono, and former Vice Chairman of Yakurr Local Government Area, Mrs Kate Ogom.
Also in attendance were former council chairmen, members of the Etung Council of Chiefs, former legislators, party stakeholders, community leaders, women groups and youth organisations from across the local government area.
Senator Eteng said the gesture was aimed at enabling residents of Etung Local Government Area to celebrate the Yuletide season in good cheer and reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of his constituents.
