The police command in Kwara has commenced investigation into a suspected arson attack at the Isale Koko area of Ilorin.
This is contained in a statement issued on Saturday in Ilorin by the police public relations officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi.
Ms Ejire-Adeyemi said no lives were lost in the incident, as no one was inside the building at the time of the fire.
She also said that the value of the property destroyed was yet to be determined.
The command’s spokesperson said that the incident was reported on January 2, at about 10:00 p.m. at the C Division Police Station, Oja Oba, Ilorin.
“The complainant, Mrs T. A. Olorisha, alleged that her house was set ablaze by unknown persons on 1st Jan., 2026, at about 7:00 p.m., while she was away from home.
“Mrs Olorisha further alleged that she had received threats in November 2025 from some individuals over religious differences, as she is a traditional worshipper,” Md Ejire-Adeyemi said.
She said that the victim provided the police with useful information, which necessitated the invitation of the three suspects.
Ms Ejire-Adeyemi said that the three suspects have been detained and are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
“The command assures members of the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspected perpetrators, while all allegations are being diligently investigated.
“The Kwara State Police Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives, property, and the fundamental rights of all residents, regardless of religious or cultural beliefs.
“Members of the public are urged to remain calm and provide any useful information that may aid the investigation,” she said.
