The Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has flagged off major road construction projects in Takum, Ussa, and Wukari Local Government Areas.
The projects include the N11.7bn, 12-kilometre Takum–Lissam Road; the N37bn Wukari–Chinkai Road; as well as the N85.9bn Takum flyover bridge, dual carriageway, interchange and internal roads in Wukari, which are expected to significantly transform transportation and commerce in the zone.
The significance of these projects cannot be overemphasized.
The Takum–Ussa Road has been an age-long challenge, severely hindering socioeconomic activities between the two local government areas despite their rich natural endowments.
Similarly, the Wukari–Chinkai Roads will provide easier and shorter access for residents traveling to Nasarawa State and the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja), enhancing regional connectivity.
The Wukari Township Road Network, featuring a flyover at Takum Junction, is expected to ease traffic congestion, improve road safety, and stimulate urban development within Wukari metropolis.
Governor Agbu Kefas reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to improving the living standards of Taraba citizens through the provision of critical infrastructure and basic social services.
He noted that his government has prioritized unity, peace, and security as fundamental pillars for sustainable development across the state.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Moseh Luka, said that the projects would significantly reduce the hardship faced by residents.
According to him, the roads will boost economic activities, enhance security surveillance, and accelerate overall socioeconomic development in the affected areas.
Contractors handling the projects assured the government and residents that the roads would be executed in strict compliance with approved specifications and completed within the agreed timelines.
Some residents, in their remarks, pledged continued support for Governor Kefas and assured him of the areas’ loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in forthcoming elections.
The inauguration of the 12-kilometre Takum–Lissam Road Project marks a major milestone in Governor Kefas’ broader infrastructural agenda aimed at improving connectivity and fostering economic growth across Taraba State.
Likewise, the Wukari Township Road Network and the Takum Junction Flyover Bridge are strategic projects designed to decongest traffic, reduce road accidents, and permanently address persistent traffic bottlenecks at one of Southern Taraba’s busiest intersections.
