Ankpa, Kogi State – In a remarkable display of philanthropy, Engineer Akpa Stephen Achema has gifted his hometown of Ankpa, a cutting-edge hospital, completely free for the general public.
The hospital, located in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State, is a first-of-its-kind facility in the region, boasting state-of-the-art equipment and medications provided at no cost to patients.
In an exclusive phone interview with Urah TV, Achema, Chairman and CEO of Zoe New Dawn, revealed that the project is currently 70% completed, with plans to replicate the model in the other eight local government areas in Kogi East.
“I’m building a state-of-the-art hospital in Ankpa Local Government Area. The facility will be fully equipped, fully functional, and all medications will be provided completely free of charge,” Achema said.
The philanthropist explained that he had initially intended to build a hotel, but changed his mind after hearing the cries of the people for a hospital. “I bought a building for a hotel, but the cry of the people for a hospital made me change my mind,” he said.
Achema assured that the hospital is on track to be completed soon, with MRI scan machines and other essential equipment set to arrive next week. “Next week, MRI scan machines and everything required for a standard hospital will be available. In a couple of weeks, the hospital will be ready to use,” he said.
When asked about his political aspirations, Achema was clear: “No, I’m not a politician, and I’m not joining any political party.”
The hospital is expected to be a game-changer for the people of Ankpa and surrounding communities, providing access to quality healthcare without the burden of medical bills.
