Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, has backed calls for Toto Local Government Area to produce his successor in 2027, saying the area has what it takes to lead the state.
Speaking during a meeting with Toto critical stakeholders, Governor Sule explained that he was initially concerned about the absence of the Ohimegye Opanda at the event, especially with the Aguma of Bassa present.
He expressed relief that the traditional ruler attended, but was later surprised when the governor was asked to support the governorship bid for Toto.
The governor noted that key Toto leaders, including Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, Maikaya, and Dr. Faisal Shuaib, had persuaded their royal father to venture into politics, prompting him to make the request.
Governor Sule then posed several questions regarding the suitability of Toto for the governorship and answered them in the affirmative, stating that the area deserves the opportunity, has capable people, and now possesses the unity required to win the election.
“These are the realities on the ground,” he said, affirming the growing political influence of Toto and its readiness to produce the next governor.
The governor’s remarks have further strengthened the conversation around zoning and succession in Nasarawa State ahead of the 2027 elections.
