President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of four ambassadors designate to Nigerian missions abroad, ahead of his scheduled state visit to Turkey next week.
The approval was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, the President approved the posting of Ambassador Ayodele Oke as Nigeria’s ambassador designate to France, while Colonel Lateef Are was confirmed as the ambassador designate to the United States of America.
Also approved is the posting of Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu, a former ambassador to South Korea, as Nigeria’s high commissioner designate to the United Kingdom.
In addition, Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, a former governor of Kebbi State, was confirmed as the ambassador designate to Turkey, where President Tinubu is expected to begin a state visit next week.
Onanuga noted that the postings form part of the President’s efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic engagements and deepen bilateral relations with strategic partners across Europe and North America.
He added that President Tinubu has directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to formally notify the governments of the four countries of the ambassadorial postings, in line with established diplomatic procedures.
The four ambassadors are among the 68 nominees earlier confirmed by the Senate in December, as Nigeria moves to fully staff its foreign missions and reinforce its diplomatic presence globally.
