Reps Summon Finance, Agric Ministers, OAGF to Account For Agric Intervention Funds

Vice-President Kashim Shettima says the Federal Government will soon begin the reconstruction of the Akwanga–Jos road.

Mr Shettima made this known at an event organised to formally receive Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau into the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Tuesday in Jos.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Mutfwang, who was elected governor on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, defected to the APC.

Mr Shettima said the Bola Tinubu-led administration would not relent in providing infrastructure across all parts of the country.

“Work on the Akwanga–Jos Road will soon commence. Within the next three weeks, the contractor will mobilise to the site for the reconstruction of the road.

“We are crossing the Ts and dotting the Is.

“The President is committed to providing infrastructural development across the country,” he said.

The vice-president explained that the President had also approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards in Plateau.

“The President has said that Plateau will be the state where we will commence the livestock development project in the country.

“He has authorised the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards in Plateau to secure our forests.

“I want to assure you that this is just the tip of the iceberg; more dividends of democracy will continue to come to Plateau,” he said.

Mr Shettima, who said the governor had automatically assumed the leadership of the party in the state, urged him to be magnanimous at all times.

He called on both former and serving leaders in the state, irrespective of tribe, religion or political affiliation, to unite and move Plateau forward.

He assured Plateau residents of the Federal Government’s commitment to tackling insecurity and ensuring lasting peace in all troubled parts of the state.
