The South South Development Commission (SSDC) and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) have unveiled Phase II of the Integrated Measles Rubella and Child Health Vaccination Campaign across the South South geopolitical zone.
The campaign, scheduled to run from January 27 to February 13, 2026, follows an earlier strategic meeting between both agencies and is aimed at expanding access to essential child health services and strengthening primary healthcare delivery in the region.
The exercise will be jointly coordinated by the Managing Director of the SSDC, Ms Usoro Akpabio, and the Executive Director of NPHCDA, Dr Muyi Aina. It will deliver free, World Health Organization approved vaccines and related health interventions through an integrated outreach approach.
According to the action plan unveiled by the agencies, services to be provided during the campaign include Measles Rubella vaccination, Polio immunisation, Routine Immunisation services, Human Papillomavirus vaccination, as well as interventions targeting Neglected Tropical Diseases.
The integrated campaign will be implemented across the six South South states of Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, Edo, Delta and Cross River.
Both SSDC and NPHCDA said the initiative underscores their shared commitment to improving child survival, strengthening primary healthcare systems and ensuring equitable access to life saving vaccines and health services for children and vulnerable populations across the South South region.
