Governor Mai Mala Buni has announced a N30 million gift to three teenagers for emerging overall best in the English Language and debate competition at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in London.
The champions, Nafisa Abdullahi, Ruqayya Fema and Hadiza Kalli, are all students of Nigeria Tulip International College, Mamudo in Yobe.
Mr Buni, who made the announcement in Damaturu on Thursday, also approved scholarships for the champions into tertiary institutions.
He described the victory as an “incredible feat” that brought glory to the state and the country at large.
“These are great feats that make us proud and justify the government’s investment in the education sector,” the governor said.
According to Mr Buni, Yobe annually spends N2.6 billion on scholarships for 890 students of the college, which is built and funded by the state but managed by Turks.
The youngsters defeated 20,000 contestants from 69 countries during the competition held in August 2025.
