The Federal Government will on Monday arraign suspects linked to the recent killings in Yelwata, Benue State.
This is contained in a statement by Kamarudeen Ogundele; the Senior Assistant (Communication and Publicity) to the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi.
The ministry said the suspects would be arraigned before Justice Joyce Abdul-Malik of the Federal High Court, Abuja Division, on February 2. Mr Fagbemi assured Nigerians that justice would be ensured in the matter to send a strong signal to the enemies of the country, acting under any guise.
He stated, “This comes after a painstaking investigation and collaboration by government agencies. The administration of President Bola Tinubu is committed to the protection of lives and property of all as enshrined in the constitution.’’
Recall that in July last year, gunmen invaded Yelwata community and killed several villagers in coordinated attacks that drew intense emotion and widespread condemnation.
