A 39-year-old man, Oparinde Olatunbosun, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court sitting at Ogba, Lagos, over alleged unlawful possession of a firearm.
Olatunbosun is facing a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and unlawful possession of firearm.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, SP Josephine Ikhayere, said that the defendant and others now at large, allegedly conspired to commit a felony on December 25, 2025, at about 3:00 a.m. at Itamaga Roundabout, Ikorodu, Lagos.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendant unlawfully possessed a semi-automatic pump-action gun with one live cartridge without authorisation from the Inspector-General of Police.
Ikhayere alleged that the defendant claimed he was to use the fireman to protect Akinsanya Estate, Ikorodu as local a security personnel that he bears.
He said the offencecontravened Sections 330(d) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, L. A. Owolabi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case until February 24, for mention and possible trial.
