The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Comrade Joel Salifu, has said that politics based on tribe or sentiment will not help the state move forward. He stressed that Kogi State is one united and indivisible state that must not be divided for personal or selfish interests.

He made this statement on Monday in his office in Lokoja while receiving members of the Kogi State Chapter of the City Boy Movement on behalf of the Governor.
The Deputy Governor according to his Press Secretary Mr Unubi Emmanuel said the government is focused on the “Kogi Agenda” and not ethnic politics. He urged members of the group to go back to their communities and tell the people that Kogi State supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo ahead of the 2027 general and governorship elections. He added that “there is no vacancy in Aso Rock and Lugard House.”
He expressed confidence in the group, noting that it has members from all the twenty-one local government areas of the state. He described the Movement as sincere and worthy of government support. He also praised the founder of the group, Barrister Seyi Tinubu, describing him as a worthy son of his father.
The Deputy Governor assured them that he would inform the Governor about their visit and discussions for necessary support.
Earlier, the State Director-General of the group, Hon. Mark Ogah Okpanachi, explained that the City Boy Movement is a youth-driven political group formed originally to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. He said the group has members across wards and polling units in Kogi State.
He added that the Movement is ready to work for the re-election of the President and the Governor in 2027, and that they visited the Deputy Governor to seek his guidance and support.
