Yilwatda Tells APC Governors to Patronise TPI

Nentawe Yilwatda, the All Progressives Congress’ national chairman, has appealed to the party’s governors to outsource their training, research and relevant consultancy services to The Progressives Institute.

The APC chair made the appeal on Monday in Abuja during the inauguration of the institute’s governing council, a think tank and intellectual resource centre of the party.

Mr Yilwatda said the inauguration of the council was the conclusion of the process of establishing the institute’s governance structure, which began with its unveiling on September 6, 2024.

He said the institute was established by the party’s leadership as part of a deliberate effort to strengthen its ideological and research capacity. He added that it was also to encourage a research and ideologically driven orientation in other political parties in the country.

He added that even as the ruling party, the APC ensured that the process of establishing the institute complied with all relevant laws and regulatory requirements.

“This is to underscore our party’s commitment to the rule of law and to ensure that the institute can effectively operate as an independent, self-sustaining non-state organisation,” he said.

Mr Yilwatda explained that the council was the highest organ of the institute, whose role was fundamental to the institute’s future, especially in realising the party’s vision and the establishment’s goals.

He added that his decision to serve as the institute’s governing council chairman was to ensure it received policy and strategic attention at the highest level of the party’s leadership.

He assured that the party’s entire leadership was fully committed to supporting the institute and giving it the desired attention.

Mr Yilwatda congratulated members of the council for supporting the APC and for agreeing to continue serving through the institute. He said members of the council were carefully selected and highly recommended among thousands of qualified experts and outstanding Nigerians because of their pedigree and experience.

The institute’s director-general, Lanre Adebayo, assured the APC leadership of his management’s commitment to setting a standard for the institute and fulfilling its mandate. He added that committed party members were serving as its staff, saying that any staff who were not party members would be asked to resign.
