The Chief Executive Officer of Highland Media Ltd, publishers of Summit Post News, Comr Omonu YG Nelson, has applauded President Bola Tinubu over the appointment of ace journalist and former Editor of Leadership Newspaper, Stanley Nkwocha, as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media, Office of the Vice President.
President Bola Tinubu had on Sunday, approved the appointment of Stanley Nkwocha as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media, Office of the Vice President, along with seven other office holders.
A statement by Comr Omonu described Nkwocha’s appointment as a round peg in a round hole, saying his addition to the administration’s media team will certainly add impetus to the efforts at bridging communication gap between the government and the people.
“Since inception, the BolaTinubu-led government has shown clearly that it is a people-centred government, anchored on probity and accountability. Hence, the appointment of Nkwocha to manage the information flow in the office of the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, will be of huge advantage, given Nkwocha’s track records as a deft information manager and journalistic acumen.
“By this appointment, Tinubu has demonstrated again, what’s possible where a leader’s choice of appointees is based on capability, credibility, competence and character.”
According to the publisher, government is at the instance of the people and the people must be carried along on every policies and programme inorder to enjoy their support. This, he said, can only happen where and when tested hands are saddled with the responsibility of managing information flow between the leaders and the led.
While restating faith in Stanley Nkwocha’s ability to surpass the expectations of Nigerians and the government, Omonu attested to the fact that the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, is an astute public servant, with proven testimonies by those who have previously worked with him.
