The Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN, Professor Uduma Oji Udumai, has approved the extension of the NOUN Staff School from Basic 6 to Basic 9, aligning the institution with the Federal Government’s revised education policy.
The approval brings the school in line with the current 9-3-4 education system. “The Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Professor Uduma Oji Udumai, has approved the extension of the NOUN Staff School (NSS) from Basic 6 to Basic 9, in line with the Federal Government’s revised National Policy on Education and the current 9-3-4 education system,” the university stated.
Speaking with NOUN News in Kaduna, the Director of the Centre for Human Resource Development, CHRD, Dr. Amos Iliya, said the school has maintained strong standards for staff children and the community. “The Staff School has continued to provide quality foundational education to the children of university staff and members of neighbouring communities,” Dr. Iliya said.
The extension means NOUN Staff School will now run through junior secondary level, giving pupils a seamless transition within the same school environment before proceeding to senior secondary.
The development is expected to ease pressure on parents seeking admission for their children into JSS1 and expand access to quality basic education within the university community.
