Janet Esiri lost her dad and benefactor when she was just entering the university. It was traumatic for her. She had suffered from admission issues for four years. She was unlucky with JAMB but finally got admission to read Accountancy, her preferred course. Daddy was excited and vowed to see her graduate even if it was going to take his last Kobo. Then the Grim Reaper struck and without warning Daddy slumped one Saturday morning while playing lawn tennis and died on the way to the hospital. It was cardiac arrest.
Janet was devasted. When Daddy lost his job with a catering company many years ago mummy became recalcitrant and ran away with a man to Gabon and since then Daddy has been trudging on doing odd jobs to keep the family going. Now, this!
During the funeral Janet met Nduka Okolie a hotelier and one thing led to another and they became an item. Nduka is a married man with five kids. He was generous to Janet and picked her bills. He saw her through school comfortably. During her youth service she met Deji a lanky quiet corper during POP and they became lovebirds and in a jiffy he proposed. She accepted. Deji is the quintessential gentleman and the dream of any lady. It was not difficult to discuss it with Nduka as there was an understanding. Nduka is a deacon in a Pentecostal church and would never marry a second wife. He had told her whenever she meets a husband material he’ll happily step aside. She introduced Deji to Nduka as a maternal uncle. Nduka promised to bankroll the marriage ceremony.
During the marriage ceremony Nduka was the chairman of the reception and gave a car gift to the couple.
Janet’s chief bridesmaid was the taciturn Jessica. They have been friends since secondary school and they grew up in the same church and neighborhood. They only attended different universities.
Two months after the marriage Deji got a good job through Nduka and the family was literally comfortable. By the fourth year of marriage the family have already welcomed two beautiful girls.
One day Jessica visited for the weekend and Janet and Deji were ecstatic to see her.
The next day Janet took the kids to fix their hair and left Jessica and Deji at home. Jessica went into her room and strolled out on bum short. She is curvy and vivacious and started flirting with Deji. Deji brought a bottle of VSOP whiskey and they clicked glasses.
“You’re beautiful Jessica. If I had met you before Janet you would have been my wife”, Deji blabbed.
Stroking Deji’s beards Jessica gushed, “Deji, since I set my eyes on you I have never been able to take my mind off you.”
“Jessica, can I make love to you?”
“Hmmmm… this is your matrimonial home. It’s not fair”, blurted Jessica weakly.
“It doesn’t matter. Let’s do it quickly before Janet is back. I beg of you. I have a rock solid erection.” Deji crooned.
“You’ll lick me first. I don’t enjoy penetration without oral.”
“Anything for the girl. As Her Lordship pleases.”
The sex was wild and rapturous.
The next day after church Jessica returned to base but she had set a fire in the heart of Deji that the water of Janet couldn’t quench. Deji at the slightest opportunity would sneak to a safe place to put a call across to Jessica and say sweet nothings and have phone sex.
Late one night as Deji and Jessica were on phone Jessica suddenly said, “Deji darling, there’s something bothering me for long now which I can no longer hide from you. Nduka is not your wife’s uncle but her sugar daddy. He trained her in school and they’ve been dating for years and they’re still dating till this very day. Please don’t tell her I told you ooo. She’s my friend. I don’t want to break her home.” The phone slipped from his hand and the screen broke. Deji was broken as he fell on his knees in grief. How come he never suspected this!
That night Deji beat Janet black and blue and gave her a black eye and sent her packing and threw her into the night with just a lingerie. She spent the night in a neighbor’s house and called Deji on phone begging him and agreed she dated Nduka but that after the marriage the affair ended. She swore no man have touched her since the marriage. She sent emisarries to entreat him but he shunned everyone. Deji forbade her to work. She was just a house wife and had no savings.
In a few weeks after Jessica moved into the Deji’s house. She abused the kids and was rude and crude to Deji. She was a wicked step mother and one day broke the leg of one of the kids. Deji became listless and despondent. He took to drinking and lost his job.
Meanwhile Jessica became a party freak and socialite. During her attendance of a party in town one day she chanced on Nduka but didn’t recognize him immediately but he recognized her and walked up to her.
“Hello Jessica, how are you?”
“OMG, Nduka it’s you!”
“Long time”
“No see”
“How’s Janet?”
“Don’t know. Lost contact with her.”
“I lost her number myself. I miss Janet.”
” What do you miss about Janet? She’s happily married. I can take you to Cloud 9.”
“Really?”
“Try me.”
Nduka took Jessica to his guest house for an evening of fun.
Meanwhile life have been hard for Janet. Janet made up her mind to locate Nduka and seek his help for a job. She went to his office but was told that he was at the guest house. When she got there she was shocked to meet Nduka and Jessica cavorting and ran out immediately but Nduka ran after her.
“Janet! Janet!.”
“Go back to Jessica.”
“I just met her today in a party and asked about you but she said she lost your contact and I have been unable to reach you for three years.”
Janet broke down and told Nduka how Jessica broke her marriage and took over her home and Nduka was livid with anger and drove Jessica from the premises. Jessica fell from a motorcycle on her way out and broke her leg and got hospitalized.
Nduka immediately gave Janet five million naira to rehabilitate herself and she took a cab to her matrimonial home and met her daughters alone unattended to. She took them away with her.
She couldn’t stop thinking of her husband and visited in a fortnight and met him at home totally broken and dejected. He was contrite and went on his knees begging for forgiveness.
Nduka got Deji a job in a blue chip company and he was rehabilitated.
