A pro democracy group, Votes Must Count International Initiative, VMCII, has said that accepting INEC’s ‘fake results’ from the February 25 general elections will keep Nigeria’s democracy in the dark forever.
The Country Director of VMCII, Dr Barry Johnson made the assertion while addressing a news conference in Abuja on Monday.
Johnson said the Independent National Electoral Commission released ‘fake presidential results’ to help the All Progressives Congress (APC) retain power.
He, therefore, called on INEC to redeem its image by reviewing the results and ensuring that a fresh announcement is made.Â
“We also ask the Nigerian youths, women and people who voted for Mr Peter Obi not to accept the outcome of this election because INEC played a kangaroo game in the release of the final results in favour of the APC.
“Your acceptance of these fake presidential results by INEC will continue to keep the Democracy of Nigeria in the dark forever.
“Remember that your vote is your power to choose whoever you want to lead you as a people and if you don’t come out in a peaceful manner to protest this wickedness these political criminals of Nigeria will continue to surcharge you and your children unto the fourth generations and forever,” he said.Â
