Accord Faction Endorses Tinubu’s Re-election, Backs APC Candidate in Osun ‎

A faction of the Accord Party led by Maxwell Mgbudem has declared its support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, attributing the endorsement to what it described as the administration’s commitment to economic reforms and national development.

‎

‎In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja and jointly backed by Prof. Chris Imumolen, the group said its decision was driven by the belief that sustaining the current administration’s policies would further strengthen the economy, consolidate ongoing reforms and promote national stability.

‎

‎According to the faction, continuity in governance is necessary for Nigeria’s progress, stressing that its endorsement of President Tinubu was made in the country’s overall interest.

‎

‎The group also announced its decision to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the forthcoming Osun State election, Munirudeen Oyebamiji. It said the move was aimed at encouraging capable leadership and fostering sustainable development in the state.

‎

‎It maintained that the alliance with the APC in Osun was a strategic political decision intended to ensure effective governance for the people of the state.

‎

‎The faction, however, clarified that its support for President Tinubu and the APC candidate should not be interpreted as a merger with another political party or the dissolution of the Accord Party.

‎

‎It urged members of the public, the media and political stakeholders to distinguish between its national endorsement of Tinubu and its political alliance in Osun State.

‎

‎Reaffirming its independence, the group said the Accord Party remains a separate political platform with its own constitution, leadership, ideology and vision, dismissing suggestions that it had ceased to exist as an independent party.

‎

‎It added that the party would continue to uphold democratic values, national unity and issue-based politics while taking decisions it believes serve the interests of Nigerians.
