The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has unveiled an updated schedule for its 2026 primary elections and revised nomination fees downward for certain demographic groups, following what the party describes as extensive stakeholder consultations.
Under the new timetable released on Tuesday, the window for purchasing and submitting nomination forms will run from May 6 to May 13, 2026, with screening of aspirants scheduled for May 14–15. Primary elections are set to begin on May 21 for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate seats, followed by governorship primaries on May 22 and the presidential primary on May 23.
The party will hold a National Executive Committee meeting on May 25, ahead of a Special National Convention on May 26.
The revised fee structure places the presidential nomination form at N90 million, governorship at N30 million, Senate at N10 million, House of Representatives at N5 million, and State Houses of Assembly at N2 million.
In a move aimed at broadening participation, the ADC said it would retain a 50 percent discount for youth aspirants aged 18 to 35, while women and persons living with disabilities will receive a 25 percent reduction.
According to a statement signed by National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the adjustments are intended to “strengthen internal democracy, improve access, and ensure that the ADC continues to provide a credible and inclusive platform for political participation.”
Aspirants who wish to appeal screening outcomes may do so between May 18 and May 19, with the final list of cleared candidates to be published on May 20.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to presenting credible candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
