Adeleke Pledges More Support for Youth Entrepreneurs as Osun’s Economy Expands

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting young entrepreneurs and expanding business opportunities across the state.

The governor said his government is implementing policies aimed at attracting investments, creating jobs and stimulating economic growth, noting that commercial activities in Osogbo and neighbouring communities have grown significantly in recent years.

Adeleke, represented by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Bunmi Jenyo, made the remarks during the inauguration of Backroom Lounge in Osogbo.

He stated that parts of the state capital now operate around the clock, describing the development as evidence of increased economic activity driven by government efforts to improve the business environment.

According to the governor, Osun has gradually moved beyond its traditional dependence on the civil service sector, with investments now emerging across various areas of the economy.

He highlighted the role of private investors in the state’s development, citing the owner of the newly commissioned facility, who had earlier established a mini stadium in the same location before expanding with a restaurant and lounge.

Adeleke said the administration’s policies have made Osogbo a more attractive destination for business and leisure, reducing the need for residents to travel outside the state for entertainment and related activities.

He pledged continued support for youth-led investments, particularly in sectors such as hospitality and sports, stressing that entrepreneurship remains key to job creation and economic expansion.

The governor also disclosed that the state had allocated land to about 12 industries at the revitalised Living Spring Free Trade Zone in Ede, a development expected to create more than 10,000 direct jobs and further boost industrial growth.

Speaking at the event, the proprietor of the lounge, Tunde Oladimeji, said the project was established to provide a premium relaxation centre for visitors and sports enthusiasts using the nearby mini stadium.

He commended the state government for creating a favourable environment for businesses and encouraged more young entrepreneurs to take advantage of emerging investment opportunities in Osun State.
