The Management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc. (AEDC) has notified its customers in New Karu, One Man Village, New Nyanya, Ado Kasa, Appmma, Adeyi Road, Koroduma Island, Gwandara, and environs in the Karu local government area (LGA) of Narasara State that the power outage being experienced currently in the area is as a result of a technical fault on the feeder serving the areas.
In a post on the company’s Twitter handle on Friday, the management, while appealing to customers’ patience, assured that efforts were on to restore power supply to the area as soon as possible.
“Our engineers are currently working hard to restore the power supply soonest. We regret any inconveniences caused,” AEDC said.
This is as some residents of the area alleged that they have not had light for days, and that they are being exploited by the distribution company (DisCo) through what they described as exorbitant electricity bills served them on a monthly basis amidst the epileptic power supply.
A resident of Gwandara, Asuogwa Jerome, said he lives in a one room apartment with a family of four and some light electrical gadgets, and yet gets bills of over N9,000.
“It is highly condemnable, especially as we are not even seeing the light,” he said, adding that the most annoying is that those who come as officials are very uncivil in approaching customers.
Meanwhile, AEDC’s post on the same handle shows that the DisCo got an allocation of 460 megawatts, MWs for distribution on Friday, 3rd February, 2023 to customers in its franchise area of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Niger States.
