APC Chairman Replies Obi, Says Tinubu Works from Morning Till Night

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, has dismissed claims by the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, that President Bola Tinubu is tired of governing Nigeria.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Mr Yilwatda said the president remains energetic and fully committed to his responsibilities, insisting that Mr Tinubu works from morning till night to deliver on his mandate.

The APC chairman questioned the basis of Obi’s claim, arguing that the president’s daily schedule, policy initiatives and ongoing infrastructure projects are evidence that he is not fatigued.

“Let me put it this way, especially to Obi, who claimed that Tinubu is tired—is he going for boxing or 400 metres?

“Are you telling me that the president who stays and works from morning till night is tired? These are the issues we are talking about,” Mr Yilwatda said.

He added that beneficiaries of the administration’s programmes would not support calls for the president to step aside, citing initiatives such as the Nigeria Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, as examples of policies impacting millions of Nigerians.

“Are you telling me that over a million students and mothers who depend heavily on and celebrate NELFUND would be praying that the president be retired?” he asked.

Defending the administration’s record, Mr Yilwatda listed several ongoing infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the development of seaports across Calabar, Akwa Ibom, Port Harcourt, Ondo and Lagos, as evidence of Tinubu’s commitment to national development.

“Are you telling me that people who have the coastal road from Lagos to Calabar, to Akwa Ibom and Port Harcourt, or the five seaports in Calabar, Akwa Ibom, Port Harcourt, Ondo and Lagos, are those who wish that the President be retired?” he said.

The APC chairman also highlighted ongoing efforts to modernise the aviation sector, saying airport upgrade projects nationwide showed that the administration remained focused on delivering critical infrastructure.

“I am sure you watched the renewal of airports being upgraded by the Minister of Aviation. This and many others, even in the North,” he added.
