The All Progressives Congress, APC’s consensus candidates for House of Representatives Speaker and Deputy Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Benjamin Kalu have been unveiled to members elect.
The unveiling took place at a meeting of the House Joint Task, in Abuja.
Speaking after the ceremony, the Speakership candidate, Tajudeen Abbas, said his nomination is based on competence.
He assured to reach out to his fellow aspirants to get their support.
“We have reached out to so many and we’ll continue reaching out your all of them. Before the end of next week I assure you all the candidates, all the contestants will reach out to them. We will beg them. We will ask them to come on board so that we can work down the institution”. He said.
Also speaking on his nomination, Hon Benjamin Kalu said that the party has taken an inclusion step by choosing him.
According to him, the south east is going to feel the power of cohesion and that national loyalty is going to be driven by virtue of the decision.
“It was a wise decision to include the south easterners in the structure of government that is being formed. As you know, it’s the responsibility of a ruling party to set up the architecture of government in order to achieve the set national objective. And this architecture that is being displayed now, is all inclusive architecture and my people in the south east are delighted that they have been considered and that will change the dynamic come 2027”. Hon Kalu said.
Kalu pledged to channel his energy to make sure that the APC is more rooted in the south east.
