APC Not Against Workers, Bashiru Tells Osun Civil Servants

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Bashiru, has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to civil servants in Osun State, insisting that the APC values and respects workers.

Speaking during a meeting with former officials of the Local Government Education Authority in Osogbo, Bashiru dissociated the party from individuals who have allegedly made disparaging comments about civil servants.

According to him, those criticising workers are expressing personal views and do not represent the position or ideology of the APC.

In remarks contained in a video circulated on social media, Bashiru described civil servants as an important segment of society whose contributions to governance and development cannot be ignored.

He noted that workers remain a crucial voting bloc ahead of the August 15 governorship election and deserve respect rather than criticism.

“Anyone speaking against workers is not doing so on behalf of the APC,” he said, stressing that the party neither authorised nor endorsed such comments.

Bashiru urged civil servants not to judge the APC based on the statements of a few individuals, assuring them that the party remains committed to maintaining a positive relationship with workers across the state.

He also warned party members against internal divisions as preparations intensify for the governorship election, calling for unity and reconciliation among APC stakeholders.

The APC chieftain encouraged members to rally behind the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, and work collectively toward securing victory at the polls.

Addressing aspiring National Assembly candidates within the party, Bashiru cautioned them against prioritising personal ambitions over the governorship contest, arguing that success in the governorship race would strengthen the party’s chances in future elections.

He maintained that party members must remain focused on returning the APC to power in Osun State rather than engaging in unnecessary internal disputes.
