The Cross River State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has inaugurated reconciliation committees across the state’s three senatorial districts in a bid to restore harmony and address concerns stemming from its recently concluded primary elections.
The initiative, approved by the party’s State Chairman, Christopher Sunny Eta, follows the conduct of the party’s primaries for National Assembly, State Assembly, governorship and presidential positions.
In a statement released on Wednesday, State Publicity Secretary, Emmanuel Edem Inyang, said the committees would engage party leaders and members across the state to resolve disputes, encourage inclusiveness and reinforce party cohesion ahead of future electoral activities.

Ekpo Ekpo Bassey, Sir William Archibong, Prof. Paul Itari, Mrs. Kate Okon and Dr. David Okon, while Engr. Effiong Bassey will serve as secretary.
The Central Senatorial District committee will be led by Chief Ebuta Ayuk, alongside Elder Bolaji Anani, Prof. Anim Ajake, Prof. John Inyang, Chief Barr. George Ekpungu and Prof. Alice Ekwu. Barr. Bassey Okim was named secretary of the committee.

According to the party, the committee members were selected based on their experience, credibility and acceptance within the APC, qualities it believes will help them effectively resolve disagreements and strengthen party unity.
The committees are scheduled to be inaugurated on June 8, 2026, at the APC State Secretariat, where they will receive their terms of reference to guide reconciliation efforts across the three senatorial districts.
The APC expressed optimism that the exercise would enhance internal democracy and reinforce solidarity among party members following the highly contested primaries. It maintained that although candidates had emerged for various elective positions, sustained reconciliation was essential to keep stakeholders united and focused on the party’s broader political goals.
The party reiterated its commitment to inclusiveness and internal peace, stressing that unity remains key to preserving its political strength in Cross River State.
