A group of stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi East Senatorial District has appealed to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to step into the controversy surrounding the reported suspension of Senator Jibrin Isah, popularly known as Echocho.
The stakeholders, in a statement released on Thursday and signed by their spokesperson, Ibrahim Mohammed, urged the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, alongside the National Secretary, to carefully scrutinize all documents and resolutions linked to the senator’s alleged suspension before making any official decision.
They also dismissed a circulating “letter of rejection” said to have been endorsed by some party members in the district, describing it as misleading and politically driven.
According to them, many of the individuals claiming participation in the process are not genuine ward executives, alleging that the exercise was based on impersonation and political desperation rather than due party procedure.
The statement further described the ongoing development as part of deepening internal tensions within the APC in Kogi East, warning that such disputes could weaken party unity ahead of future elections in the state.
The stakeholders cautioned that intra-party disagreements should be handled through established disciplinary and reconciliation channels, rather than actions capable of escalating division among members.
They also reaffirmed their support for Senator Isah, praising his performance in the National Assembly and citing his constituency projects and interventions across communities in Kogi East.
According to the group, the senator’s legislative contributions align with the objectives of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, adding that his continued representation would benefit the region.
They maintained that returning Isah to the Senate would be in the “strategic interest” of the Igala people and Kogi East, noting that his achievements were “visible and impactful.”
Senator Isah, who represents Kogi East in the Senate, has remained a key political figure in the district, with supporters often highlighting his work in infrastructure, empowerment, and education.
The stakeholders, however, urged APC members across Kogi East to remain calm, loyal, and patient while awaiting the outcome of the National Working Committee’s review of the petition.
