The All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to establish a merit award system to encourage intra-party unity, reward performances, bolster the public productivity and public service of its members and stakeholders.
The award, known as the APC Leaders Merit Award (ALMA), will be held annually to recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievements of APC leaders in various categories, including governance, party management, and popular participation.
Dr. Tom Ohikere, the Managing Director of the APC NewsOnline, which is organizing the award, said that the ALMA was necessary to acknowledge the contributions of APC members who may not have been appointed to public office or elected to elective positions.
“The APC Leaders Merit Award is a child of necessity, in view of the timely need to acknowledge the worthy contributions of the numerous APC party juggernauts and faithfuls across the country as regular government appointments and elective position are very limited in appreciating deserving members of the party,” Ohikere said.
The ALMA award categories include:
- National Commendation Certificate
- State Impact Merit Award
- Grassroots Impact Merit Award
- APC Lifetime Award
- APC Victory Award
- APC Parliamentary Award
- Posthumous Award
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on December 2 at the International Conference Center in Abuja.
The APC’s decision to establish a merit award system is a positive step that will help to motivate and encourage its members to continue to work hard for the party and the nation. It is also a sign of the party’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
The ALMA award ceremony will be an opportunity for the APC to showcase its best and brightest leaders, and to send a message of unity and hope to its members and supporters. It is also an opportunity for the party to demonstrate its appreciation for the contributions of its members, and to reaffirm its commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
