Kefas made the promise at the 2024 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day in Jalingo. He said that the sacrifices of the fallen heroes would not be taken for granted.Kefas, who is a retired army officer, commended the Nigeria Army for their relentless efforts in responding to insecurity threats in the state. He expressed his determination to continue support to security agencies in the state so as to achieve a crime free society.
The Chairman of Nigeria Legion Taraba State Council, retired Warrant Officer Samaila Nuhu, said that Taraba State has a large number of ex-service men and women retirees. He called on the governor to renovate the state office of the legion and provide them with a vehicle.
Nuhu also called for support to the families and widows of fallen soldiers and urged the government to assist them with skills acquisition training to boost their economic base. He said that their members could work in the area of security, urging the government to consider them in such areas.
The Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day is a day set aside to honour the fallen heroes of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
The event was attended by all the first class traditional rulers in the state, top government officials in the state and senior military commanders in the state.
