Attacks on Christian Leaders: “Hold Omoyele Sowore Responsible for Breakdown of Law and Order” – Group
The Concerned Christian Youth Forum has said, Omoyele Sowore should be held responsible for any likely breakdown of law and order. This is even as it strongly condemned the “disrespectful and abusive comments” made by Sowore against Christian leaders in Nigeria.
In a statement, the group described Sowore’s behavior as “preposterous, egregiously disrespectful, and therefore, unacceptable.”
According to Paul James Adama, convener of the group, Sowore’s attacks on Christian leaders, including revered figures such as Bishop Francis Wale Oke, Pastor E.A Adeboye, and Pastor W.F Kumuyi, are “not grounded in reality but rather in ignorance and hate.” The group emphasised that these leaders are not only spiritual leaders but also intellectual heavyweights who have earned the respect and admiration of millions of people around the world.
“We urge him to rethink his approach and refrain from further attacks against Christianity and her leaders,” the group stated. “The Concerned Christian Youth Forum will not stand idly by and watch our Faith and leaders disrespected and maligned by Sowore.”
The group warned Sowore that his “misguided words and actions have far-reaching consequences, even capable of causing a breakdown of law and order.” They emphasised that he should be held accountable for his “reckless, rascally and ignoble role in inciting social and religious disturbance” in Nigeria.
The Concerned Christian Youth Forum reaffirmed their solidarity with Christian leaders and their faith, vowing to defend their honor and integrity against further attacks. They also drew the attention of the Nigerian government to the potential danger of Sowore’s actions, particularly with regards to religious sensitivity and national peace and security.
